How to install VisualWorks?

Insert the CD-based installer

• On most platforms, the Installer starts
  automatically when you insert the Cincom
  Smalltalk CD.
• Does it start automatically?

Yes

The installer doesnt start automatically

• If it does not start automatically
• 1. Browse your CDs root directory.
• 2. Double-click on the installWin.bat command
  script file.

This is the first screen for installing
VisualWorks.Select Custom Install, click on
Nextgt

If you just downloaded the software you no need
to check if it is up to date (please do not click
on Check Server). Then click on Nextgt to
continue

Select ONLY VisualWorks, then click on
Nextgt(Object Studio is not required to run
Cormas)

Click on Browse to indicate where the
VisualWorks should be installed
Click here to choose where the new folder is.

Directory Selection is shown.Choose your own
proper location. Then click on OK

E\Programs

Next click on Nextgt to continue

Mark at COM object. To have a shortcut on
desktop, please mark on Place shortcut on
desktopAnd then click on Nextgt (COM Module
must be selected, because it is required for
communicating with Excel.)

It shows Installation Options Summary You just
click on Nextgt to continue

To mark on Accept, and then click on Install
to continue

Please wait until Overall Progress is 100,
then click on Nextgt to continue

Finally, click on Exit to finish the
VisualWorks installation

Visualworks is installed!

• Now your computer has VisualWorks.
• If you have chosen Place shortcut on desktop,
  then you will see the shortcut on your computers
  desktop.
