Bone Markings

• Tuberosity large rounded or roughened projection
• Trochanter very large, blunt projection
• (only on femur)
• Crest narrow ridge of bone

• Foramen round or oval opening through a bone
• Notch an Indentation in an edge.
• Malleolus the name for the bony prominence on
  each side of the ankle.

Knee Joint

• The femur, which is the large bone in your thigh,
  attaches by ligaments and a capsule to your
  tibia.
• Just below and next to the tibia is the fibula,
  which runs parallel to the tibia.

Male and Female Pelvis

• Male Pelvis upper margin of true pelvis is heart
  shaped. The pubic arch is an acute angle.
• Female Pelvis Upper Margin of true pelvis is
  oval shaped. The pubic arch is a right angle.

• False Pelvisthe part of the pelvis superior to a
  plane passing through the iliopectineal lines.
• True Pelvis the part of the pelvis inferior to a
  plane passing through the iliopectineal lines.
