Personal History

• Born 1546 in Denmark
• Died 1601 in Prague
• Worked for King Frederic II of Denmark
• Later, he moved to Prague to work for the Holy
  Roman Emperor.

Brahes Achievements

• Rejected current models for his own complex
  geocentric model
• Earth center of universe, other planets circled
  the sun

Achievements, cont.

• Made highly accurate observations of positions of
  astronomical bodies through angle measurement.
• Developed various devices for these measurements
• Hired Johannes Kepler as an assistant, who later
  used Brahes research to formulate laws of
  planetary motion

FUN FACTS!

• He had a pet moose
• His nose had been cut off during a duel. It was
  replaced by a metal piece.
• It was long thought that he died from bladder
  complications, but it was actually mercury
  poisoning.
• There is a calendar that refers to certain days
  in Brahes life, Tykobrahe days, as bad luck.
