Feudalism

• An economic, social, political system
• All land belonged to the King
• Divine rights of Kings or the idea that God gave
  the right for the king to rule
• The king gave fiefs (land) away to nobles in
  exchange for their loyalty
• Kings lived in castles
• Nobles lived on Manors or large landed estates

• King (only one king of a territory)
• Nobles (Lords/Ladies) given a fief from the king
• Knights, mounted soldiers
• Chivalry, the code of conduct for knights
• Serfs
