MAIN GOALS

• Promote geographical indications as an
  instrument of development and of protection of
  local knowledge
• Lobby for a better protection of GIs at
  national, regional international levels

3 KEY PRIORITIES

• Secure the extension of the protection of Article
  23 TRIPs to all GI products (WTO negotiations)
• Support for the establishment of a
  legally-binding multilateral register open to all
  products (WTO)
• Call for more technical assistance for developing
  countries

  the context of negotiations on the protection of
  GIs

• Communications through publications and website

• Facilitate exchange of information between

• Participation at conferences and seminars
• Promotion of technical assistance programs to
  develop the concept of GIs in developing
  countries
