Title: OPTimum Integration of POLYGENeration in the Food Industry
1OPTimum Integration of POLYGENeration in the Food
Industry
- Proposal acromym OPTIPOLYGEN
- Contract number
- EIE/04/150/S07.39553
- Start date 1st of Jan 2005
- Expected end date 31st of Dec 2006
2The goal of the project
- To develop a suitable database of successful
existing polygeneration applications in the food
industry, - To prepare a European food industry
survey regarding the potential of polygeneration
applications together with RES uses, - To
prepare a coherent set of information for
polygeneration implementation in the food
industry including technical, financial and
investment guidelines, - To prepare a
dedicated interactive web site giving full
information and initial calculation procedures
useful for feasibility studies of polygeneration
in the food industry, - To prepare training
material suitable for consultants and engineers
active in the food industry, To
disseminate the results and the data of the
project towards interested stakeholders.
3OPTIPOLYGEN expected results
- To give a full map of the potential
for polygeneration applications together with the
potential of RES use in the various Food industry
sectors in Europe. - To point out technical
barriers which might exist in the use of
renewables in hybrid systems with conventional
fuels in CHP and trigeneration applications in
the food industry. - To propose beneficiary
solutions to the above-mentioned barriers
applicable within the present technological level
and knowledge. - To improve the awareness of the
stakeholders on the benefits of applying
polygeneration by showing them existing success
stories in similar plants like their
owns. - To develop and integrate within
existing best practice guides classified
knowledge for the application of polygeneration
in the food industry. - To significantly
improve energy sustainability in the food
industry.
