2Here is a list of some of the major crimes and
criminals in Sioux City in the 1800s.
- George Throut was getting mad at his partner Ed
Hatch because he was winning a game of faro. So
he pulled out a revolver and killed Ed Hatch.
Throut was given a life sentence in jail but was
soon pardoned by the governor. - The second crime was committed when a homeless
person was hitting a door and a townsperson
named, Tom Mace came up and shot him down. - Reverend Haddock was killed because people
thought that they should keep gambling and
drinking but Haddock wanted people to live by the
bible instead. Henry Peters grabbed Haddock and
it is assumed that the second man, Arensdorf,
came to Haddocks left side and shot him in his
neck with a revolver.
3The Main Areas Where Crimes Were/Are Committed
In Sioux City.
- Then
- Near the Soudan area which is at the bottom of
Prospect Hill. - Near the Sioux City Stockyards which is where
Home Depot is now. - Now
- Between Hamilton Blvd and Floyd Blvd.
- Between the two hospitals which police call
Midtown.
4What did they do if jails were full in the 1900s?
- They kept adding more and more criminals to the
jails because there were no laws about how many
people could be in a jail at one time.
5Design another way to arrest people.
- Using paper and pencil draw another way to arrest
people with handcuffs and rope.
6Solve the following crime.
- Jerry was attacked by the same mugger twice. The
first time he stole his briefcase. The second
time, he stole nothing. - Hint The mugger took only the briefcase which
held important business documents. - Answer The mugger, hired by a business rival
accidentally switched pagers with Jerry during
the first attack. He had to mug Jerry again to
switch them back.

11Decide who committed the crime in Sioux City in
1933.
- On July 15, 1933 a robbery was committed on
Fourth street. The evidence was a footprint, a
bloody pillow case, a hat, and a clean shirt. The
DNA found on the pillow case was from a man
named, Alex Zanner but it was not his pillow. A
very expensive dress shirt that had recently been
sent to the drycleaners to be washed and pressed
was owned by a woman named, Cecila Conners. The
DNA from the hat was from a man named Jake
Ofelia, and the DNA from the footprint was from a
rare European shoe. The owner was named, Alisha
Alickson who also worked at the dry cleaners. So
try to figure out who should go to jail and

12Judge if one of the suspects should go to prison
or should both go to prison.
- Judge if both or one of the suspects should go
to prison for murdering a 21 year old man one of
the suspects name is Daniel Basket and the other
is his girlfriend named Natalie Kikoson.
Witnesss say Natalie was holding the victim
and Daniel was holding a gun to the victims neck
and in one minute Daniel shot the victim in the
neck.
