Presentation Overview
  • REVVA (1) project features
  • REVVA process, products, roles
  • REVVA (2) project features
  • VVA Roadmap
  • Proposed Contribution to a common roadmap

3
REVVA (1) Project features
  • WEAG THALES JP11.20 REVVA
  • Objective
  • To develop a basis for a common methodological
framework for the Verification, Validation and
Accreditation (VVA) of data, models and
    simulations.
  • Project frame (first phase)
  • 18 months (March 03 October 04)
  • Budget 2 M Euros (2.3 M)
  • FR (lead nation), DK, IT, NL, SWE

4
REVVA basic principle
  • Methodology
  • customer-based
  • VVA is used to determine and assess the
justifiable confidence that may be put by the
customer in the use of MS products
  • MS development process neutral
  • VVA process can be mapped to many
    development processes

5
REVVA major outcomes
  • Concepts and terminology
  • VVA process
  • VVA products
  • Organization, Roles,
  • etc.

6
REVVA results terminology
  • Validity
  • The property of a simulation model to have,
within a specific experimental frame, a
behaviour which is indistinguishable from the
behaviour of the System of Interest.
  • Validation
  • The process to demonstrate under a set of
    time, cost, skills, and organizational
constraints that a simulation model has the
    property of validity.

7
REVVA results terminology
  • Correctness
  • The property of a simulation model to comply with
formal rules and bodies of reference information
for its representation and for the transformation
of its representation into another one.
  • Verification
  • The process to demonstrate under a set of time,
    cost, skills, and organizational constraints
that a simulation model has the property of
    correctness.

13
REVVA (2) Project features
  • Objective
  • Produce a set of documents which will be
proposed as a standard for a Verification,
    Validation and Accreditation (Acceptance)
methodology of data, models and simulations
    submitted to an appropriate international
    standardisation body
  • Time frame Jan. 2006 Dec. 2008
  • Europa MoU Bilateral agreement (CA, NL)
  • FR, CA, DK, NL, SWE, UK (industry)
