Objective
  • In this lab, we will practice collecting data,
    measuring, and organizing information.
  • We will also utilize mathematical formulas to
    determine the thickness of a piece of aluminum
    foil.

  • Aluminum Foil (2 brands)
  • Balance
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Calculator

Procedure
  • 1. Using the scissors and the ruler, cut a
    rectangular piece of aluminum foil.
  • 2. Determine the area of the piece of foil.
  • ( A l x w _____ cm2)
  • 3. Using the balance, determine the mass of the
    aluminum foil. For best results, ball the foil
    up before putting it on the balance.
  • 4. Repeat the procedure for the other brand.
