Purpose

• The purpose the Liaison Program is to facilitate
  partnerships with academic faculty and programs
  by assigning to each HSC College or Department
• a dedicated librarian who works closely with
  its faculty, staff students to enhance
  communication and service.

Background

• Conceptualized during the HSC Libraries
  Strategic planning process in 1997
• Based on the successful activities of HSC
  Librarians who served on the curriculum
  committees in the colleges of Nursing, Dentistry
  and Medicine.
• A workgroup was formed to develop the program in
  1998.

Implementation

• In 1999, the program was implemented for all 6
  Colleges.
• College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, two
  liaisons were assigned
• one for basic sciences and
• one for clinical sciences
• College of Health Professions, multiple liaisons
  were assigned to serve their programs.

Liaison Forum

• The Liaisons meet periodically to
• plan activities
• review accomplishments
• share ideas, problems and concerns
• determine where we might want to move as a group.
