Student Committee Our Mandate, Membership and
Activities
  • Our Mandate
  • To facilitate the inclusion and retained
    participation of students in CES and CES-Ontario
    activities, which foster relationships that
    facilitate the ability of students to
  • publish and present their evaluation related
    research
  • strengthen their own evaluation knowledge and
    practices
  • network with fellow students, colleagues and
    potential employers
  • Our Membership
  • The membership will report to the CES-Ontario
    Board of Directors at regular board meetings, and
    to the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Ongoing Activities
  • Student Recruitment The student committee
    continues to recruit new students. The number of
    student members has doubled since the joint
    CES/AEA conference in October and students now
    number 78!

Principles of Operation
  • Current Activities
  • The student committee recently released
  • their first newsletter! Pick up your copy at
  • the Ontario Chapter table.
  • Several members of the student committee will be
    attending the conference, presenting their work,
    meeting other students, and recruiting new
    students to CES in Ontario.

Watch for news about the new Ontario students
FORUM! We hope this will be a great way for
students across Ontario to connect and share
information!
The Student Committee will operate under a
participatory framework in all of its activities
and the results of its work will be transparent
and responsive to the membership
  • Future Activities
  • Create partnerships and collaborations with other
    CES and AEA Student Committees
  • Continue to create and distribute student
    newsletters
  • If you would like to make a contribution to the
    newsletter, please contact Erica at
    students_at_evaluationontario.ca.
  • Create educational opportunities through the
    development of accessible and relevant workshops,
    seminars, etc.
  • Facilitate employment opportunities through
    employer list, and by providing space for job
    postings in the newsletter and/or Students
    Corner website
  • Specific activities designed to fulfill this
    mandate include
  • Develop and maintain an Ontario Student List
  • Develop and maintain an Ontario List of
    Professors engaged in evaluation
  • Develop and maintain potential employer list of
    organizations and departments in Ontario
  • Promote students and student-related activities
    at annual evaluation conferences (e.g., posters
    and presentations, social activities)
  • Provide a voice for students (e.g., through
    student corner on CES-Ontario website, student
    newsletter)
  • Ensure that financial support and waivers exist
    for students to participate in CES-Ontario
    activities (e.g., workshops, seminars)
  • Upcoming CES-Ontario Conference
  • The student committee has organized a
    student-focused lunch session at the upcoming
    CES-Ontario conference in Toronto. The session
    will focus on
  • Evaluation skills desirable by employees (but
    rarely covered in evaluation program curriculum)
  • Diverse roles of evaluators
  • Strategies for pursuing a career in evaluation
  • Pick up the conference brochure at the Ontario
    chapter table!
