TNC

• The Taxon Names and Concepts group was formed at
  TDWG 2003 from the earlier Taxon Names group with
  the remit of proposing a data transfer standard
  for taxonomic names and concepts (taxa).
• The aim of the Taxon Names and Concepts group is
  to promote the understanding of taxonomic
  nomenclature and it's relation to described taxa
  (taxon concepts).
• The group is concerned with developing standard
  data models for representing nomenclature and
  taxa and how these are related to other
  biodiversity information models such as those
  describing specimens and observations.
• The first standard developed by the group was the
  Taxonomic Concept Schema (TCS).
