Whys the Pressure On?

• Maintenance of skin integrity is a nursing
  sensitive indicator of quality patient care.
• When a patient develops a pressure ulcer it has
  a negative impact on their entire
  hospitalization.
• Legislation requires we report all Stage III or
  IV pressure ulcers that develop within our
  facilities.

Standard of Practice

• Every patient admitted to a HealthEast Hospital
  will be assessed for the presence of skin
  breakdown and the risk of developing a pressure
  ulcer. When a problem, or its potential, are
  identified appropriate care will be implemented
  and interventions and the response to the
  interventions documented.
