  • Goals were primarily administrator-driven
  • Not enough Board-level support
  • SSP and its PD were additions to other
    initiatives

What is School Accreditation ?
  • A made in Nova Scotia approach
  • to school improvement. It is about
  • enhancing school performance
  • and student achievement.

AVRSB participation
  • There are already 20 schools participating in the
    accreditation process.
  • 10 new schools are beginning in 2008-2009.
  • All AVRSB schools will be in the accreditation
    cycle as of September 2009.

  • Establish an Internal Review Team
  • Full participation by the school community
  • Develop, implement and assess the plan

  • Lead the implementation of the School Success
    Plan

    community about the school improvement activities

Roles Responsibilities IRT Co-Chairs
  • Lead the Internal Review process (4 training days
    and 8 sub release days for working on the report)
  • Lead in the organizational matters of the IR
    process holding meetings, gathering
    information, analyzing data and drafting of
    reports
  • Serve as primary writers for the Internal Review
    Report
  • Organize / facilitate School Success Planning
    sessions
  • Develop first draft of the School Success Plan
  • Write final copy of SSP in cooperation with the
    staff, Internal Review Team and principal
