Title: SIMPLE MACHINES

1
SIMPLE MACHINES
  • LEVERS AND PULLEYS

2
THE SIX SIMPLE MACHINES
  • There are six simple machines. There are inclined
planes, wedges, pulleys, levers, screws and wheel
    and axles.

3
  • All of the simple machines make work in science
easier. When they make work easier they are
    really cutting your effort force.

4
Simple Machines
  • There are six simple machines, but they all do the
same thing, they all make work easier.

5

LOAD OR RESISTANCE
  • It is the weight of the object we want to move.

6
EFFORT FORCE
  • Effort Force is the force applied to move the
object you are trying to move.

7
Work
  • Work is when you physically move an object over a
    distance.

8
LEVER PARTS
  • The six lever parts are Fulcrum,Lever Arm,
Resistance/Load and Effort Force. All of these
    parts make a lever.

9
  • The best way possible to set up a lever is to put
the load/resistance as close to the fulcrum as
possible on one side, then use the effort force
on the other end of the lever.

10
PULLEY PARTS
  • The four pulley parts are Effort Force,Pulley
    Wheel,Resistance/Load and Supporting Lines/ropes.

11
  • When you add supporting lines the effort force is
cut. For example, if you have five supporting
lines it cuts your effort force by 1/5.

12
  • The supporting lines affect the distance your
hands move compared to the load. For example,
when you have five feet of supporting lines and
you pull the whole five feet the load will only
    move one foot.
