3TP qualification rules
- Each certificate has
- Common Core - common to Certificate IIs within
all four packages - Stream Core specific to the certificate.
- Electives
- can be taken from any of the 4 packages at
Certificate II or III level (with the exception
of some Cert III units). - Outdoor Recreation also mandates activity
specialisations. - Some electives may need to be taken as a cluster
4VCE VET program
- Reference group of schools, TAFE, industry
developed an agreed program - Complies with all the qualification rules
including pre-requisites - Available to VCE and VCAL students

- February 27- Enrolment 1 data
- May 1 Enrolment 2 data (final date for VCE VET
enrolment to access govt funding) - August 18 - VCE VET Assessment plans due, no

8Things to consider
- Electives may be completed over the course of the
program but will be credited at Unit 12 only - Many units of competence have prerequisite
requirements - Prereqs for compulsory units have been listed.
- Prereqs for electives have NOT been listed.
- Prereqs for the Unit 34 sequence have been built
into the Unit 12. - Schools not completing a Unit 34
(i.e.Certificate II only) do not need to deliver
these prereq units and may choose alternative
electives. However students will not be able to
undertake the Unit 34 if these prereq units have
not been completed.
9Nominal hours
- Nominal hours are calculated by the Office of
Training and Tertiary Education (OTTE). - Credit in the VCE is provided via VCE VET units
that are calculated using these nominal hours - VCE - Credit of up to five units
- up to three at Units 12 and
- a Unit 34 sequence
- VCAL approx 100 hours of training one VCAL
unit
10Delivery advice
- Page 26 of the booklet provides advice on
appropriate delivery contexts through other VCE
and VCE VET programs. - The common core from Certificate III (Unit 34
sequence) satisfies the elective requirement at
Unit 12 - Sample programs are provided in the Appendix to
the booklet
11ENTER contribution
- Satisfactory completion of the Unit 3-4 sequence
- From 2006 scored assessment is available.
- Students commencing the new program will need to
undertake scored assessment in order to achieve a
Study Score and ENTER contribution - This Study Score can contribute to the primary
four or as a fifth/sixth study. - Students opting out of scored assessment in the
new program will not be eligible for a
contribution to the ENTER
12Transition 2005-2006
- Students who have partially completed a
Certificate II in the old VCE VET Sport and
Recreation program in 2005 may transfer to a
Unit 34 sequence in the revised VCE VET Sport
and Recreation program in 2006. This is subject
to the RTO being satisfied that all
pre-requisites have been met. These students must
undertake scored assessment for a contribution to
the ENTER. - Students enrolled in 2005 in the current program
will be able to continue in 2006 under the
current arrangements
13 Scored Assessment Design and Operation
- School/RTO assessed coursework tasks
- 66 of final grade
- End of year examination
- 34 of final grade
14Coursework
- Based on a selection from four generic task types
- Task types identified as most commonly used by
RTOs - As a set, the tasks cover all units of competence
in the 3-4 sequence - Maximum flexibility of scheduling

16Assessment Plan
- Comprises requisite no. of tasks
- 3 coursework tasks
- Determined by assessor in consultation with
teachers and/or trainers and employer, where
relevant - Must cover all the units of competence in the
selected Unit 3-4 program - Weighting rules apply - 85 hour maximum for any
task

18Rules For Task Selection
- Use at least two of the task types
- Aim at an even spread across the units of
competence - Units of competence cant be split between tasks
- Separate evidence for each task
- Adhere to weighting rules

20Who is the Assessor?
- The Assessor is the person approved by the RTO to
conduct assessments, record ratings and provide
the documentation to the school. - Individual task should not be split between
assessors
21Scoring Criteria
- Student must achieve S for all units of
competence assigned to that task in the
Assessment Plan - Levels of performance
- 1 base (i.e. is competent)
- 2
- 3 medium
- 4
- 5 high
- Not yet competent judgement no score

- Sample has been published by the Examinations
Unit and is available on the VCAA web site under
