Prometheus and the Creation of Man

• -Prometheus and his brother Epimetheus were
  Titans who joined Olympians to fight the other
  Titans
• -Were assigned the creation of all the animals
  and finally, man
• -Prometheus created man out of clay
• -Epimetheus had no gift left to give man, so
  Prometheus stole fire from the sun and gave it to
  man
• -He also tricked the gods into taking the bones
  of the sacrifice rather than the meat

• -Gods punished man by creating Pandora, the first
  woman
• -Pandora opened a jar out of curiosity, and let
  out all the evils of the world, but kept hope
• -Prometheus was further punished by being chained
  to a rock were a giant eagle (or vulture) would
  eat his liver
• -He would continue to suffer until he would agree
  to tell Zeus who would try to overthrow him
• -Was rescued by Heracles
