Peer Support Project

• S3 students trained by UP2U to work with Primary
  7 pupils in local schools.
• The aim is to help pupils learn about drug and
  alcohol issues and to provide support and advice
  in the transition between primary and secondary
  school.

Feuerstein Programme

• Programme aims to help pupils control impulsive
  behaviours which negatively impact on learning
  and achievement.
• The focus is on cognitive development and
  involves exercises designed to increase
  motivation, systematic working practices and
  forming and testing hypothesis.

Mediated Learning

• Social Studies Department are piloting a mediated
  learning approach to learning and teaching.
• Building on Feuerstein principles it encourages
  the development of cognitive functions that can
  be transferred / used in other situations.

Student/Senior Student Council

• Key aim is to provide leadership to, and
  represent the views of fellow students.
• Students are given the opportunity to engage in
  and lead the decisions making process on a range
  of issues.

Staff Well Being Programme

• This is still evolving.
• Creating an environment where staff feel valued
  and supported is crucial to the development of
  the school.
• Recent in-service day focused on the mental and
  emotional well being of staff and pupils and
  provided opportunities to try visualisation and
  relaxation techniques, Tai Chi, yoga and massage.
