Title: How would we plan a trip to the moon

1
How would we plan a trip to the moon?
  • 1st Grade

2
Steps on our Journey
  • How will we get ready for our trip?
  • How long will it take to get to the moon?
  • How will we get to the moon and what will we see
    along the way?
  • What will we see and learn about once we reach
    the moon?

3
How we will prepare for our trip
  • Health-What will we have to do to prove we are
healthy enough for such a long journey?
  • Supplies-What kind of supplies will we need on
    our trip?
  • Training-What kind of training to we need to be
    good astronauts?

4
How healthy do we need to be?
  • Before we can go to the moon, we all have to have
a thorough checkup with a doctor
  • Only astronauts in perfect condition are allowed
to go to the moon because the trip is so long and
    hard on the human body!

5
What supplies would we need?
  • Space suits-so we can walk around on the moon!
  • A Space shuttle-to get us to the moon really
    fast!
  • Food for our trip-there is even special space
    food for astronauts!

6
What kind of training would we need?
  • We would need a year and a half of training
before we could go into space!
  • One thing we would learn is how to walk on the
    moon in our spacesuits

7
How long will our trip take?
  • The moon is 230,600 miles away from Earth
  • That would be same as driving to Disney World 217
    times!

8
  • In a car, it would take you 150 days to get to
the moon, which is almost an entire school year!
  • By space shuttle, it would take you 16 hours,
which is only 1 trip to Disney World, or 3 school
    days!

9
How will we get to the moon?
10
What will we see along the way?
  • From space, you can see what the earth looks like
from far away-you can even see whole oceans and
    continents!
  • There are many objects floating in space,
including stars, planets, asteroids, and meteors

11
What will we see and learn about once we reach
the moon?
  • No Gravity
  • Moon rocks and craters
  • Temperature on the moon
  • The American Flag

12
There is no gravity on the moon!
  • Gravity is what keeps us weighted to the ground
here on Earth so that we dont float away!
  • On the moon, the gravity is so weak that it would
not hold us to the ground if we tried to walk
around. So we would have to wear a heavy
    spacesuit to explore the moon.

13
Here is what it looks like when an astronaut is
floating in space!
14
The Moons Ground
  • The ground on the moon is very different than
    Earth.
  • The moon is covered with large rocks and craters.
  • Craters are large holes in the ground caused by
large space rocks smashing into the moon.

15
Temperature on the Moon
  • The temperature on the moon can get very, very
    hot and very, very cold!
  • When the Sun is out, the moons temperature can
    get as hot as 265F!
  • When the Sun is down, the moon can get very cold,
    down to 170F below zero!
