Weve Come Full Circle

• Started mailing data files to counties in 1998.
• Began training front line staff on how
  participation rate is calculated in 2001.
• Training on how to use Microsoft Access to
  manipulate the data began in 2002.

Minnesota has TANF data in two separate systems

• TANF eligibility data are on MAXIS, a system run
  by the MN Dept of Human Services
• TANF work activity data are on WorkForce
  One(WF1), a system run by the MN Dept of Employee
  and Economic Development

DATA MATTERS

• Info from WF1 is added to MAXIS data to
  calculate rate
• Matched on SSN in the data warehouse
• If MAXIS data elements are wrong or missing than
  hours from WF1 arent counted

• Marital status
• School status
• Paid Work Hours
• Migrant indicator
• Youngest childs birthday
• SSN
