Purpose

• To build a multi-use platform for a wide range of
  mobile remote applications
• To demonstrate the feasibility of a design
  concept
• To educate about new technologies and
  applications involving alternative power

Objectives

• Use solar panels and power regeneration methods
  to create a self-sustaining system
• Use a router to create a web-page based control
  and monitoring of the system
• To harvest enough excess, ambient energy to power
  peripheral devices (expandability)
• Demonstrate concept on RC vehicle

Project Goals

• Minimum A solar-powered, router-controlled RC
  vehicle.
• Target A self-controlled software-sensor
  interface with hybrid/regenerative techniques for
  energy recapture and reuse.
• Optimal A system that consumes less energy than
  it is able to harvest, using a variety of energy
  recapture techniques.

• Uses 802.11g wireless standard
• Range of up to 100ft indoors, 300-500ft outdoors
• Can connect with any 802.11b/g enabled device -
  e.g. laptop, PDA, PSP, etc

• Control through web page
• Allows for control by any wireless-enabled device
  - no additional software needed
• Web interface sends inputs through custom
  software to microcontroller through serial
• Can also receive inputs from microcontroller and
  display data on screen

Risks / Contingency Plan

• Cannot generate enough power
• Use battery power/alternative methods
