4Order of Delivery
- Nothing to prevent linear delivery of units
- BUT
- Level of skills and understanding required for
2(c) and 2(d) mean students might be better
prepared to complete these portfolios in the
second year
5Teaching Strategies
- Visits to local, national organisations as
broad a range as possible, banks, video shops,
estate agents etc. - Observation / Interview in work experience
- Research in groups is a possibility but portfolio
evidence must be individuals own work - Avoid investigating ICT in school need to
encourage students to see beyond this

7Unit 3 ICT in Society
- Assignment 3 a) Report on the impact of ICT on
the way you do things at home and at school /
college
- Assignment Briefing e.g. produce a report for a
friend who wants to reassure his mother that his
use of ICT in school and at home is beneficial to
his education and his social life
8What approach to take?
- As with all assignments in Unit 3
- Evidence of investigation interview,
questionnaire etc - Must cover personal, professional and social use
of ICT - Will relevant legislation be covered now or dealt
with as a separate section?

- Assignment Briefing e.g. A new world wide based
charity organisation wants to inform individuals
with special needs of the ways in which ICT
equipment can help promote an independent
lifestyle has asked you to develop a portfolio
that contains details of the many products
available which help provide independence and
career opportunities for individuals with special
needs.
- Assignment 3 c) Report on the impact of ICT a
person with special/particular needs

- Wide range of social, personal and professional
uses - Explanation of how the technologies meet the
individuals needs - Evaluation of the extent to which the
technologies meet the candidates needs in
personal, social, home and professional uses in
relation to alternatives

- Assignment 2 a) Produce a report on the
different purposes for which an organisation
/department uses ICT
- Approach Named organisation or
departmentGuidance to ensure the organisation
has a wide uses of ICT to cover communication,
function and information

- Clear identification of the organisation /
department, functions, staffing - Range of purposes identified as information,
communication and purpose - Give full details of each purpose and the reason
for using ICT

- Assignment 2 b)Produce a report on the ICT
system used in the organisation / department and
how it meets the needs identified in 2 a)
- Must relate directly to the purposes for ICT
identified in Assignment 2 a)

- Detail of hardware and software requirements to
include input devices, output devices,
processors, ports and cables and storage devices - Descriptive comments about the components and the
system as a whole - Purposes linked to relevant hardware / software
with an evaluative comment about how well the
system meets these purposes
15Unit 2 ICT in Organisations
- Assignment 2 c)Produce a design specification
for an ICT system including information sources,
input, processing and output requirements with
the type of application software needed
- Can be a different organisation from 2 a) and b).
- Must be a manageable project a small
organisation which can be implemented
16Evidence Requirements
- User requirements must be clearly identified
- Initial designs should allow the use to determine
suitability - Final designs should be broken down sufficiently
to allow a third party to be able to construct
the system - Effective test plan for the whole system
17Unit 2 ICT in Organisations
- Assignment 2 d)Implement, test and evaluate the
system together with guidance for the user
- Evidence of implementation can be shown through
annotated hard copy or witness statements
18Evidence Requirements
- The implemented project should fulfil all
requirements and conform to the design - The system is fully tested
- The system as a whole should be evaluated in
terms of requirements being met and areas for
improvement - User guide is detailed enough for a new user to
begin using the system

- Computer based examination
- 2 hours 30 minutes
23Facilitating Pupil Assessment
- Prepare candidates for the examination.
- - Examine current practice.
- - Recognise mode of assessment is different to
traditional mode. - CCEA are committed to supporting the
specification.

Booklet
- Each pupil will receive a Pre-release Activity
Booklet. - Activity Booklet will help to focus study and
learning for examination. - Activity Booklet will use the same language as
that used in the examination. - Activity Booklet assist teachers in the
preparation of candidates. - Activity booklet does not form part of the
examination or assessment process.

Guidance Notes
- Teacher Guidance Notes will accompany the
Activity booklet, advising teachers on how to use
each activity.
26CCEA Supporting Assessment ProcessWebsite
- A company website will support the Activity
Booklet scenario. - Pupils will be required to access the website and
use the information to complete tasks in the
booklet.
27CCEA Supporting Assessment ProcessData files
- Pupils will be required to download files from
the website for the activities in the Activity
Booklet. - Teachers will be required to download examination
data files. These will be available 4 weeks
before the examination date.

- Pupils will sit a 2hr 30minute computer based
examination. - The examination forms 100 of the assessment for
that unit
