Tom Wojcikowski

• Hi...I'm Tom Wojcikowski, coordinator of the
  STARS Program.  Most of the kids call me Mr. Wojo
  or Mr. W.  I don't blame them, Wojcikowski's too
  hard to say.  I've been with the STARS Program
  going on my second year now and I am having a
  blast.  It is just a wonderful program at a great
  school.  I actually work for Cornell Cooperative
  Extension of Jefferson County because the STARS
  Program is a joint project between CCS and CCE.
   Cornell is great to have on board because the
  lend a great avenue of support for the program.
   Before I started with this project I was the
  Youth and Teen Director at the Carthage YMCA.  I
  helped rebuild the youth program at the new Y
  once they established a program in Carthage.   It
  was a fun job working there.  Before that I was
  the Recreation Coordinator at the Watertown Teen
  Center.  When we started out at the Teen Center,
  attendance was low and not many kids were allowed
  to go to the teen center.  My director and I
  turned the place around and each night attendance
  was sky rocketing.  I started at the Teen
  Center when my family moved back to New York from
  Charlotte, North Carolina.  I was a Recreation
  Leader at a big rec center in Charlotte.  It was
  here that I found my passion for working with
  kids in the after school setting.  I have done
  some really fun things over the years with kids,
  like human fooseball, a game a co-worker and I
  created in Charlotte.  Or playing beepball with a
  group of blind students at a summer camp.  I
  have a young son and daughter and we are an
  active family.  My son plays baseball, lacrosse,
  and soccer and I am the coach for all of his
  teams.  We try to do many fun things outside.  I
  am a huge lacrosse fan and was a part of two NCAA
  National Championship Lacrosse teams in college.
   It was from these teams that I got a desire to
  win.  I am very active in my community as I am a
  part of the North Country Community Cup Committee
  and also captain a team in that competition.
