1ROSIE AND THE RED SHINY BALLOON
2ROSIE AND THE RED SHINY BALLOON
To Rosie, my little princess.
3 One sunny afternoon Grandpa was driving home
from work and stopped for a red light. While he
was waiting, he turned his head and saw Frank, a
young man who lives across the street from him.
Frank was selling colorful balloons.
- Grandpa asked Frank, How much for
- a balloon?
4Just 1.00, sir, answered Frank.
- Grandpa said, I want the red shiny balloon.
- Is this balloon for Rosemary? asked Frank.
5Grandpa answered, For the one and only Rosie!
Thats really a nice red balloon I know she
will like it, said Frank.
- When the light turned green, Grandpa waved
as he told Frank, See you later, Alligator.
6Grandpa got home and the first thing he did was
to look for Rosie. He walked through the house
saying, Rosie, Rosie--where is Grandpas little
princess?
- Then Aunt Elizabeth walked in with Rosie, who
had a big, pretty smile on her face. Grandpa
said, Rosie, I have a gift for you. Rosie was
so excited and happy that Grandpa brought her a
gift.
7Grandpa said, Rosie, close your eyes and give
me your hand. Then he tied the balloon to her
wrist and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
- Rosie couldnt stop saying, Thanks, Grandpa!
Thanks, Grandpa! She started running around the
house with her red shiny balloon. Rosie loved
the balloon and took it everywhere.
8- That evening Rosie went to the store with
Grandma and she took her red shiny balloon along.
After shopping, Grandma and Rosie were walking
to the van. Suddenly the balloon started to
float away when Rosie wasnt looking.
9Grandma told Rosie , Make a wish and keep it to
yourself. Rosie turned back ad cried , where is
my red shiny balloon? Grandma answered , dont
worry about it as long as you made your wish.
10- Rosie whispered sadly, I wish that my red
shiny balloon could come back. Rosie was very
upset that she had let the balloon go. She kept
saying, Grandpa will never buy me a balloon
again!
11Grandma asked Rosie if she wanted to go to the
toy store. Rosie looked at Grandma and said,
No, nothing can replace my red shiny balloon
that Grandpa gave me.
- Grandma took Rosie to the toy store hoping
that she would change her mind. After they
walked into the store, Grandma told Rosie to run
around and see if she saw anything she liked.
12While Rosie was looking at toys, Grandma called
their house. Aunt Yessy picked up the phone and
said, Hello.
Grandma asked, Is
Emmanuel at home? Aunt Yessy
answered, No, but he will be back soon.
- Grandma said, When Emmanuel gets there, please
tell him to run to Franks house any buy a red
shiny balloon. She explained that Rosies red
shiny balloon was gone. - Aunt Yessy said, I will tell him, and then she
hung up the phone. As soon as Emmanuel walked in,
Aunt Yessy told him what Grandma said to do.
13Emmanuel ran straight to Franks house and
knocked frantically on the front door. Frank came
out and shouted, Whats all the commotion?
Emmanuel said, Hey Frank, I came to see if you
have another red shiny balloon.
- What happened to the other one that I sold to
your dad? asked Frank. - Emmanuel explained that the wind took the
balloon. Now Rosie is so sad and I really need
another red shiny balloon for her.
14You are in luck, said Frank. This is my very
last red shiny balloon.
- Emmanuel paid for the very last red shiny
balloon and ran back home as fast as he could.
When he finally got there, he saw the van parked
out front. He knew that Rosie was already home
and she didnt have a clue that her uncle went
and bought a new red shiny balloon.
15Emmanuel opened the door and shouted, Surprise!
- When Rosie saw the red shiny balloon she said,
Thank you, Uncle Manuel. - Emmanuel said, Anything for my little
princess. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and a
big hug.
16Rosie played and played with her new red shiny
balloon, but this time she didnt take it outside
the house.
- Grandma and Grandpa were both so glad to see
Rosie smiling again.
