Title: GRAPHING LINEAR EQUATIONS
1GRAPHING LINEAR EQUATIONS!
2DEFINITIONS
There are different ways that Ymxb is
presented. It can already have slope and the
y-intercept, or it wont give you either and you
have to find the slope and y-intercept! The
definition of Ymxb is an algebraic equation,
such as y 2x 7 or 3x 2y - z 4, in which
the highest degree term in the variable or
variables is of the first degree. The graph of
such an equation is a straight line if there are
two variables.
Slope to have or take an inclined or oblique
direction or angle considered with reference to a
vertical or horizontal plane slant.
Y-intercept is wherever the point lands on the
Y-axis
3Here is the problem!
4x 2y10
Step one Take x and add its opposite to both
sides.
4x2y10 -4x -4x
Step 2 Get y all by itself by dividing the
number connected to y to all of the numbers.
2y10 -4x 2 2 2
Step three write out the final equation in
Ymxb form.
Y5-2x
Step four Graph the equation on a graph,
putting the y intercept on the y-axis and then go
up how many the number in the front is and go
over how many are on the bottom So you wuold go
up 2 and over 1.
