General Presentation Tips

• Use several bullet points that target the topic
  on each slide.
• Keep the text simple and concise.
• Mix text with graphics and figures for greater
  interest.
• Peak interest early Summarize the main point in
  the first two minutes.

Visual Guidelines

• Make sure your slides are visible and legible
  from the back of the room, 150 feet.
• PowerPoint presentations are preferred.
• Room lighting can vary.

• Keep slides simple and brief.
• 15 to 30 words or six to seven bullets per slide
  maximum
• Leave a space at least the height of a capital
  letter between lines.

• Use large, easy-to-read fonts.
• To present data, graphs are better than tables.
• Use tables only when precise numbers must be
  presented.

Font Guidelines

• Font size is key to your presentation.
• But font style is also important.
• Sans serif fonts (such as Arial) are easier to
  read.
• Italics can be distracting.
• DO NOT USE ALL CAPS.

Color Guidelines

• Do not use busy backgrounds.
• Color is important to readability.
• Test your color choice.
• Be creative but clear .
• Consider colorblindness.
• Use blue, orange or yellow.
• Do not use red and green together.

Larger, central elements attract
attention. Smaller, dispersed elements do not
get noticed.

• Keep your presentation moving.
• Do not keep one slide up too long.
• Use transitions.
• Face the audience, not the screen.

• Bring back-up materials and files to the
  conference.
