  • Use email address (use whole Email address) and

Application Form
  • Complete all required information
  • Name Last name should be in the last name block,
    and first name should be in first name block
  • Project Title is limited to 55 characters which
    includes spaces -- be clear and concise
  • Start Date should be within 6 months after Board
    decisions
  • Note require a Research Board Signature Sheet
    for signatures of PI, Co-PI(s), Chair(s), and OSP
    (it is called the campus specific form in the
    system and direct linked to our campus signature
    sheet)

  • A response is required for each block. Space is
    limited to within text box.

  • Be as descriptive, yet brief, as possible
  • Support (section 23)
  • Your role (i.e. P.I., Co-PI,
    Consultant/collaborator, if not applicant, name
    the P.I.)

    (P.I and as Co-P.I.)
  • Provide awards information within last 5 years

Biographical Sketch
  • 2-page maximum, for each applicant
  • Can include bio for non-university consultants,
    but no other information should be included
    (unless requested by RB)
  • All the Co-PIs need to go in and create their own
    Bio. Sketch, otherwise the proposal cannot be
    submitted.

    sites)
  • other expenses (i.e. lab animals, housing or lab
    fees, participant costs)

  • Double-spaced
  • Brief, yet thorough for critical peer review
  • Minimum of two pages, no more than 10 pages
  • "Revised" submissions are allowed one additional
    page -- page one should address responses to
    previous peer reviews
  • Images/graphics -- convert to .jpg file before
    inserting

SubmissionOne Business Day Prior the UM Deadline
  • Online application (review the entire proposal
    before submit, all required forms must be valid
    before submission)
  • Print out the whole application package from the
    system, along with the MU Campus Signature Sheet
    . Send to 202 Centennial Hall
  • Note PI, Co-PIs, PIs department chair
    need to sign on the Signature Sheet at least one
    business day before the UM deadline.
  • PI does not need to ask Vice Provost Research
    (Dr. Krishna) to sign on it. OSP will ask Dr.
    Krishna to review and sign on it
  • Form is under UM Research Board
    Process (Pre-award), item 4 (http//sponsoredprogr
    ams.mst.edu/umresearchboard/um-research_board.html
    )

Submission Cont.
  • Once the PI submits the proposal, PI will
    receive an email from the system. The status of
    the proposal will be changed to submitted.
  • OSP office will review the proposal, either
    accept or reject it. If it is accepted, PI will
    receive an email and the proposal status will
    change to accepted by campus. (If it is rejected,
    comments will be sent to the PI.)
  • After OSP accept the proposal and send to Sam
    (Columbia UMC research office assistant), Sam
    will make final decision (accept or reject).
  • Once Sam accepts the proposal, PI will receive an
    email and the status will change to Accepted by
    RB Office nobody can make any changes to the
    proposal at this point. If she rejects it, PI
    will also receive an email notification.
