The Responsibility of a Christian
  • 1 Peter 38-12
  • (New International Version)
  • Suffering for Doing Good
  •  10For,    "Whoever would love life       and
see good days    must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.  11He
must turn from evil and do good       he must
seek peace and pursue it.  12For the eyes of the
Lord are on the righteous       and his ears are
attentive to their prayer,    but the face of
the Lord is against those who do evil."a

    was,
  • Mark 831-33
  • 27Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages
around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked
them, "Who do people say I am?"  28They replied,
"Some say John the Baptist others say Elijah
and still others, one of the prophets."
  •  29"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you
say I am?"       Peter answered, "You are the
    Christ."

  • Peter Lets think about Peter and who he really
    was,
  • Mark 831-33
  •  30Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about
    him.
  • Jesus Predicts His Death
  •  31He then began to teach them that the Son of
Man must suffer many things and be rejected by
the elders, chief priests and teachers of the
law, and that he must be killed and after three
days rise again. 32He spoke plainly about this,
and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33But when Jesus turned and looked at his
disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me,
Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the
things of God, but the things of men."

  • Peter Lets think about Peter and who he really
    was,
  • John 136-9
  • 6He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, "Lord,
are you going to wash my feet?"
  •  7Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I
am doing, but later you will understand."
  •  8"No," said Peter, "you shall never wash my
feet."       Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you,
you have no part with me."
  •  9"Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my
feet but my hands and my head as well!"

8
  • Peter Lets think about Peter and who he really
    was,
  • Peter wasnt always this loving compassionate
person, he learned these qualities of love the
hard way. When he came to know Christ he was a
    impulsive, strong willed personality.
  • BUT the Holy Spirit changed him, by molding his
strong personality for Gods use and teaching him
    tenderness and humility.

9
  • Lets look at these 5 Characteristics and apply
them to our lives at home, at work and in the
    church.
