EARLY INTERVENTION
  • Hospitals and doctors refer children with at-risk
    concerns to area agencies who coordinate
    programming from birth to age three
  • At the age of two, a transition meeting is
    scheduled with personnel from BCPS to begin the
    process of introducing the family to the school
    system
  • Prior to the age of three, a referral meeting is
    scheduled with BCPS and evaluations are conducted
    to ensure a smooth transition into school
  • At the age of three, services for children
    determined eligible for specially designed
    instruction begin
  • BCPS offers Head Start and At-Risk Preschool

CHILD FIND
  • It is the responsibility of the district to
    locate and identify students who may need special
    education services.
  • Public notice is given regarding the services
    offered by BCPS each year
  • A FAPE letter is sent to parents of IDEA
    identified children who are attending private
    schools. Those students who drop out of school
    also receive this letter.
  • Students are tracked until the age of 21

    environment as determined by an Admissions and
    Release Committee

    resource, and collaboration/consultation
