VoIPs Dramatic Growth Will Surpass Legacy PBX
  • VoIP Drivers
  • Lowers communications costs
  • Lower LD costs
  • Lower administrative costs
  • Provides better communications support for
    distributed workforce
  • More flexible
  • More powerful
  • Establishes foundation for true convergence
  • VoIP Inhibitors

The Importance of MPLS
  • Provides the ability to prioritize traffic and
assign Quality of Service. These services
necessary to provide high quality voice and video
  • Faster than other technologies
  • Allows the creation of Virtual Private Networks
(VPNs) using the carriers IP backbone for
    transport (secure)
  • Not distance sensitive, less expensive than other
    technologies
  • Any-to-any connectivity
  • In the future, all WANs and routers will user
MPLS. All WAN traffic will be routed over the
    carriers IP backbones
  • Carriers will phase out older, less efficient
    technologies
  • The IP MPLS connection will be the only
connection for corporations - providing all
    services including private network traffic,
    Internet connectivity, and voice.

9
Industry Trends
  • MPLS being widely adopted by all players in the
    industry (all carriers, equipment manufacturers,
    etc.)
  • Considered to be the future of the WAN
  • Will replace Frame Relay, ATM, and Private lines
    as
  • the primary method for data transport
  • Being adopted World-Wide
