Why Obesity?
  • More than 12 million adults in England could be
    obese by 2010
  • 33 of men and 28 of women will be obese by 2010
  • 15 of men and 20 of women in non-white ethnic
    groups by 2010
  • Approximately one million children will be obese
    by 2010
  • In households with two obese parents, 1 child in
    4 is obese, compared to 1 child in 8 in
    households where one parent is obese and 1 in 20
    where no parents are obese.
  • The NHS spends around 1 billion annually on
    obesity related illnesses that can be prevented.
