• Baseline assessment to establish the current
  situation
• Review using same methods as baseline to
  demonstrate change
• NB It is important to establish what you can
  observe or measure to indicate change and develop
  a way of recording unexpected change

• More than one beneficiary so monitoring had to
  be adapted to reflect this
• Had to adapt monitoring to record changes in
  outside attitudes and influences
• Confidentiality

Newcastle Advocacy Centre

• To demonstrate the impact of having advocacy
  support
• A method that would give an overall picture of
  what was going on without identifying vulnerable
  individuals
• Developed own tool that was adopted by a number
  of Advocacy organisations

• Interviews conducted with both advocacy
  volunteers and individuals being advocated for
• Records time spent, issues raised, issues worked
  on and issues solved
• Adapted to be recorded on computer

Recording Outcomes

• Be clear what it is you want to show
• Recognised Off the shelf packages such as Soul
  Record sometimes take as much time to adapt as
  developing your own
• Make sure the time monitoring takes does not
  become disproportionate
• People involved in recording need training and
  guidance to ensure consistency
