Title: Apple Picking
1Apple Picking
Today is less apples. Yesterday was apples. The
day before was apples. Let me explain. If days
were apple trees, Today would have more apples
on the ground than on the branches. And if days
were named the way apples are named, by color and
taste, Today would be gray crisp. Yesterday
would have been blue unseasonal. We talked of
naming children like apples Pink Milky, Blonde
Sweet, And I thought of babies bunched among
branches, their cheeks and bellies red, warm in
the sun, until we pluck them and they cry.

math is the logic of the way we speak. language
is more than or equal to. If two things which
seem the opposite run into each other, they
become the same or one becomes the other so they
were never not the same. If two things which
seem the opposite collide, they become an
equation or a sentence with a semi-colon.
