Hypothesis, Data Methods
  • H Students in literature courses that integrate
    theory instruction with literature curriculum
will perform better than students in courses
where they are expected to retain and apply
skills from ENG 3014 but are not given further
    theory instruction.
  • DM Fall 2004-Spring 2005, pre- and post-course
    diagnostics and attitudinal surveys were
administered to treatment groups (ENL 4253, ENL
4273, AML 3640) and control groups (AML 3051, two
    sections). Treatment groups received literary
theory instruction, whereas control groups did
    not. Descriptive, correlational and multivariate
    regression analyses were conducted.

3
SummerFall 2005

    compared to Fall 2004 findings.
  • IRB approval will be extended for the 2005-06
school year, and an undergraduate assistant will
be added to the research team.
  • Additional surveys and diagnostics will be
administered in Fall 2005, with LIT 3383 as
treatment group and LIT 4932 as control.

Fall 05 data to test robustness of findings.
