3High School Graduation Requirements
- 1. Complete a minimum of 230 credits

4Off-Campus Courses
- If your student decides to take an off-campus
course, AND wants the course to appear on the CCA
transcript, please follow the steps below - Speak with the alpha-counselor PRIOR to
registering for an off-campus course. He or she
can determine if the course will meet graduation
requirements and if adding the course to the
transcript will benefit a student. - Submit an OFF-CAMPUS PERMISSION FORM. It must be
filled out completely, including all signatures
(student, counselor, registrar, and parent). - Once the course is completed, you must have an
official transcript from the institution where
the class was taken sent directly to the CCA
registrar. - Students can apply a maximum of 30 credits
off-campus coursework to their high school
transcript.
5Summer School Courses
- SDUHSD Summer school is offered each year for
students who need to repeat a course or courses
because - The student earned an F in a course needed for
high school graduation or a D in a prerequisite
required to move to the next level course - OR
- The student earned a D or F grade in a course
needed to meet college entrance requirements.
Most colleges will not count a D grade as passing
a required subject. - Detailed summer school information is available
in March 2009

- -A career interest inventory portion can help
your student identify possible career paths and
majors to consider after high school. - We recommend that students take BOTH to see which
test suits them best!

- SAT and/or ACT Begin taking in the Spring term
of Junior year - SAT SUBJECT TEST Take as soon as possible after
completing the corresponding course

Requirements
- Admission requirements vary by institution, but
most follow similar UC/CSU guidelines in terms of
subject requirements and test requirements. - Students should check with individual campuses
admissions offices or visit their websites to
determine current admission requirements.

- There are 123 California Community Colleges
- A few local Community Colleges
- Mira Costa (Oceanside Cardiff) Palomar
- San Diego City College Grossmont
- TWO OPTIONS
- 1. Students can earn an Associates Degree (A.A
or A.S) - A basic college or vocational degree that can
be earned in - approx. two-years if attending full-time
- 2. Students can transfer to a 4-year university
to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
(B.A or B.S) degree.
16Community College
- Entrance Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age OR
- Earned a high school diploma OR equivalent
- No SAT or ACT test requirement
- How can my student take classes at a community
college while at CCA? - 1. Fill out a concurrent enrollment form
- 2. Have your student talk to the
alpha-counselor -
- Assist.org Allows students to see which
community college courses correspond to UC/CSU
courses and satisfy entrance or major
requirements.

- How can my student get more info about Community
College? - A community college representative is at CCA in
the College Career Center to answer any
questions students may have - Monday 930am- 1220pm
- Wednesday 1000am- 1200pm
18College Career Exploration
- Students are encouraged to explore college and
career options in a variety of ways - College Career Center (located in the
Counseling Office) stop by to view college
catalogues, attend college visits, speak to
College Career Center coordinator Darlene
Burton. - NAVIANCE
- 4x4 schedule allows for flexibility in
scheduling- Students should take ROP Courses,
Internship, Work Experience - -These courses provide hands-on, practical
experience.
19Getting Started with NAVIANCE
Go to the Naviance link located on the Counseling
webpage. Your screen should look like this
20To register for the first time, type your
student's 6-digit CCA ID number with a p at the
end in the New User? box For example, if your
students number is 123456, you need to use
123456P to register.
21The next screen should look like this (if it does
NOT, contact Darlene Burton in the College
Career Center)
22- Enter your e-mail address.
- 2. CONFIRM your e-mail address.
- 3. Create a password
- 4. CONFIRM your password.
23Read the Privacy Statement, accept it, and click
the Complete Registration button.
24If you registered correctly, the next screen
should look like this. Note that you will have
limited access to your students account, with
the opportunity to review specific key areas.
After you create your account, search the links
and familiarize yourself with the numerous
features that will help you better chart your
childs career and college search.
