Anne Frank
  • Anne was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt am
    Main, Germany.
  • Her parent were Otto and Edith Frank, she also
    had a sister named Margot.

Annes Houses
  • The Frank were living in Germany on Marbachweg
    at 307
  • At the end of March 1931, the Franks moved to a
    street called Ganhoferstrasse at 24
  • During the summer Anne, Margot, and their mother
    stayed at Annes grandmothers house, while
    Annes father was looking for a house in
    Netherlands.

Franks Fled to Holland
  • When Hitler came to power in 1933 he made life
    for the German Jews difficult with his
    anti-Jewish Decrees. Thus, many Jews fled
    Germany.
  • The Franks fled from Germany to Holland in 1934.

Life in Holland
  • Anne could barely remember her first years in
    Germany, she quickly felt at home in Holland.
  • She went to Montessori Nursery School until the
    age of six, then moved on to elementary school.

The Diary
  • The diary was given to her on her thirteenth
    birthday.
  • She wanted to be a writer when she grew up.

The Hiding Place
  • The house was in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
  • The hiding place was called the Secret Annex
  • It was above Annes fathers office

The People in Hiding
  • When the Franks moved into the Annex on July
    6,1942, they were latter joined by the Van Pels
    family and Mr. Fritz Pfeffer
  • They stayed there for about two years

Annes Room
  • Anne slept in a small room with Mr. Pfeffer
    because of limited amount of space.
  • She did most of her diary entries in her room.

Helpers
  • The people that helped those in hiding were
    Victor Kugler, Miep Gies, Johannes Kleiaman, and
    Bep Voskuijl.
  • They worked on the second floor of Mr. Franks
    office.
  • They bought food, books and reported everything
    that happened outside.

Miep Gies
  • Otto hired Miep in 1933.
  • Miep was Ottos secretary
  • She did a lot of the work.

Life in the Secret Annex
  • They had to close the curtains to protect those
    in hiding from view of neighbors
  • Before any lights went on they had to darken the
    windows with black- out paper
  • There was no movement during business hours not
    even going to the restroom

The Arrest
  • They were raided on August 4, 1944 by Security
    Police and arrested and taken to Concentration
    Camps.

Life in the camps
  • Anne came to the Concentration Camp on the last
    train leaving the transit camp Westerbork.
  • After a month at Auschwitz, Anne and her sister,
    Margot, were transported to Bergen- Belsen
    Concentration Camp.
  • All of those in hiding except Otto, Annes
    father, survived

Annes Death
  • Anne died of a disease called typhus
  • She died on March 1945, only a few weeks until
    liberation.

The New Diary
  • Otto got the diary when Miep found out that Anne
    was died.
  • The diary was published in June 1947, it was
    titled The Secret Annex
  • After the initial release of 1500 copies The
    Secret Annex was translated into more that 60
    languages.
  • In 1955 a play The Diary of Anne Frank was
    premiered
  • Latter a film was aired based on the play in
    1959.
