Gordon Smouther

• Senior Industry Advisor
• Rutgers Center for Supply Chain Management
• Gordon Smouther is a thirty four-year veteran in
  the energy services industry. Prior to early
  retirement in July, 2006, Gordys
  responsibilities at Public Service Enterprise
  Group (PSEG) included development of procurement
  organization strategies, deployment of
  procurement technology, and the implementation of
  strategic sourcing in the Supply organization.
  Previous assignments at PSEG included leading the
  corporate process redesign and reengineering
  effort, managing development of the strategic
  business plans for the electric utility, and
  managing field operation offices for both gas and
  customer operations.
• Gordy has taught Procurement and Supply
  Management for Rutgers University in the MBA
  program since 2000 and the Executive MBA program
  since 2005. In the spring of 2007, he will teach
  in the Rutgers International Executive MBA
  program in Beijing, China. Gordy has also
  lectured extensively for the Rutgers Center for
  Management Development. He is a member of the
  Deans Advisory Board for Supply Chain Management
  and was appointed as the Executive Research
  Fellow and Senior Industry

• Corporate training and consulting engagements
  include a corporate sourcing group for a major
  pharmaceutical company, the supply management
  department for a pharmaceutical RD division, the
  global sourcing unit of a specialty chemical
  company, the global sourcing unit for a medical
  devices company, the national conference for a
  major health care products wholesale company and
  the US division of a global logistics company.
• Gordy has a degree in mechanical engineering from
  Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A.
  from Rider University.

Prof. John V. Farr, Ph.D., P.E.

  Institute of Technology
• Dr. John V. Farr is a Professor and Founding
  Director of the Department of Systems Engineering
  and Engineering Management at Stevens Institute
  of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey.
• His education includes a BS in Civil Engineering
  (CE) from Mississippi State University, MSCE from
  Purdue University, and PhD in CE from the
  University of Michigan.
• He has authored or co-authored one book and over
  ninety technical publications in wide variety of
  fields including military engineering, modeling
  and simulation, engineering and technology
  management, and infrastructure assessment and
  management.
• After 10 years in government and industry, Dr.
  Farr joined the faculty at the U.S. Military
  Academy in 1992 as an Assistant Professor of
  Engineering Management and was promoted to
  Professor in 2000. He was responsible for the
  Academys nationally recognized Engineering
  Management Program from 1997 to 2000.
• Dr. Farr joined the faculty of Stevens in 2000.
  Dr. Farr is a Fellow in both the American Society
  of Engineering Management (ASEM) and the American
  Society of Civil Engineers and served as
  President of ASEM for 2002 - 2003.
• He is a registered Civil Engineer in the states
  of New York and Mississippi, serves on the Army
  Science Board and the Air Force Studies Board of
  the National Academies, and as a consultant in
  the areas of data analysis and modeling and
  simulation.
