The Local Side
  • Creating your web site can all be local
  • Design the concept
  • Make any graphics web ready
  • Build you XHTML documents by structuring your
    content
  • Style the content using CSS
  • Test in different browsers locally
  • Whats next? How do we publish?

The Published Side
  • Once your site is finished AND tested you are
    ready to publish.
  • Publishing involves
  • Taking the your local root folder (or the
    contents of the local root folder) and placing
    them on a web server.
  • Thats it!

CCBC Specific Publishing
  • As students you all have an account on the
    student server
  • student.ccbcmd.edu
  • Hosts your student email accounts
  • Has a folder called www that is web ready.

create account
Simon can show you your connection info for
student.ccbcmd.edu
CCBC Web Mail (Student Email accounts -hosted on
student.ccbcmd.edu)

Logon to SIMON
  • Go to ccbcmd.edu
  • Click on MyCCBC
  • Click on SIMON
  • Click on Log In (upper right)
  • Log on
  • If you have not done this before then click on
    Create your user name lower left

  • After you login look down
  • Student Email and Unix Account Information
  • Click on the Student Email and Unix Account
    Information
  • Then click the view button

  • Now you have your connection information for the
    student server.

  • First lets connect using good old http//
  • Launch browser
  • Type the address to your student web space
  • http//student.ccbcmd.edu/username

  • Now lets connect using ftp//
  • Launch Transmit
  • Looks like a little truck
  • This is an FTP client program
  • Type in your connection info
  • Host/domain- student.ccbcdmd.edu
  • Login
  • password

Create favs folder!

Now Through Dreamweaver
  • Dreamweaver has FTP capabilities built right in
  • When you set up your site you can also provide
    Remote info.

  • Point to your favorites project folder on the
    desktop
  • Set up the remote info
  • Directory should be
