• Choosing a Life of Significance

• Success is when I add value to myself.
  Significance is when I add value to others
• If we gear our lives towards success, we place
  ourselves at the mercy of our circumstances. If
  we choose to be geared towards significance, our
  impact in this world becomes a force to be
  reckoned with. And while you may change my
  circumstances, you cant stop my influence

• Having a life that matters is not something that
  happens by accident. Its a decision that starts
  with an underlying belief
• You must develop an unshakeable belief that you
  have something of value to offer the world around
  you. And to the degree that you dont use it,
  the world around you will suffer for it

• Your spiritual gifts are unique to you. They
  work according to your personality and your
  passion
• There are different kinds of gifts, but the same
  Spirit. There are different kinds of service,
  but the same Lord. There are different kinds of
  working, but the same God works all of them in
  all men. Now to each person the manifestation of
  the Spirit is given for the common good
  - 1 Corinthians 124-7

• God resists the proud but gives grace to the
  humble - James 46
• Number 1- Its not about you. Its about God and
  his glory
• Let your light so shine before men that they may
  see your good deeds and glorify your Father in
  heaven - Matthew 516

• Number 2- Its about understanding that all you
  are and all you have comes from God. God doesnt
  make people void of value. Every person God
  makes is uniquely qualified to add something to
  this world that no one else can add
• Saying I have nothing of worth or value to
  contribute to the world around me says more about
  what I believe about God than what I believe
  about myself

• God call us to interpret our life experiences
  through our theology- not the other way around
• Gods never as interested in your past without
  him as he is in your future with him

What Do I Have of Significance to Contribute to
the World Around Me?

• Words- Our words have tremendous power
• ...out of the overflow of the heart the mouth
  speaks - Matthew 1234

• To build yourself up in the Lord is to choose to
  bless everyone around you.
• Love- Everyone person you meet desperately needs
  3 things
• To know they are important to someone
• To be loved unconditionally
• To have someone to give their love to without
  fear of judgment or reprisal

• Spiritual Gifts- Spiritual gifts are quite often
  disguised as those things that come easy and
  therefore might be dismissed as insignificant
• Steadfast Commitment- We all need people like
  that in our lives. So we all need to be people
  like that for each other
