Who is Elegible
  • Any High School Freshman Senior
  • Not a previous District 5790 winner
  • Students from both public and private high
    schools in your community

What you need
  • 3 judges, 1 scorekeeper, 1 timer
  • 1 master of ceremonies
  • Stopwatch, judges score sheets, summary score
    sheet, numbers for contestants to draw
  • Club Awards for contestants (budget)
  • Provide contestants and coaches lunch
  • Recommended 5 maximum contestants for club
    program (remember to start a little early).
  • Time Required 30 minutes.

Speech Rules
  • Subject What the 4-Way Test Means to Me and how
    it applies to my everyday life.
  • 3x5 index cards allowed,
  • No scripts or props of any kind
  • Time limit of 5 minutes max.
  • Judged on Content, Delivery and Organization

Dates and Timing
  • November Contact schools to verify school
    participation and forward literature to school
    representative
  • December schedule club contest for February
  • January 1 Club Coordinator identified and
    contact information submitted to the District
    Coordinator
  • Jan 15 Verify the club contest date with the
    school
  • February Hold your club contest
  • March 1 Submit the Region Participation Form to
    the District Coordinator
  • Early April Region contests will be held
  • Late April District Conference/final contest

  • Promotes Rotary and its values
  • Use local paper for more exposure for contestants
    and local Rotary Club (photos, articles, ask
    reporter to attend as guest)
  • Use local radio/TV to demonstrate how Rotary
    supports community youth and values.
  • Helps identify potential scholarships RITE,
    Ambassadorial and cultural.
