2
In this presentation, you will find out how
you can quickly build a large schedule from
scratch using the Daypart Builder.
3
The working area
Shown below is a brand new schedule. The area
and targets were input and we are about to fill
in the schedule using the Daypart Builder.
Every line is numbered and called a vehicle.
Click on this number to select the vehicle.
4
The Input columns
These are the eight pieces of information that
you can build your schedule with. Four of these
are mandatory, and are marked by the red
dotted-line. Call letters The licensed
call-letter(s) of the station(s). Weeks
8-week or 4-week averages are the defaults for
radio. TV users can specify the survey week(s)
that the program ran in. Days Days of the
week. Times The beginning and end time of a
time-period. For TV-diary, a full day is from
600am to 200am. For radio, it is 500am to
100am. TZ Time-zone. (tv only) Occ Number
of occasions. Cost Cost per occasion.

Right-click menu
You can type in your schedule by using the
keyboard. But try the many editing functions
that have been added to make editing a schedule
more efficient. These features can be accessed
via the right-click (context-) menu, shown on the
left here. Some of them can also be accessed
from the icon menu.
6
Daypart Builder
One of the editing tools is the Daypart Builder.
This tool is especially handy for creating a
large schedule from scratch.
You can call up the Builder via either the
right-click menu, or by clicking the icon on the
icon-bar.
7
Daypart Builder (contd)
The Daypart Builder provides a one-stop facility
for specifying all four pieces of compulsory
input.
To confirm, click Insert rows. Otherwise, your
selections in this window will not be transferred
to the schedule in the working area.
These Quick-select buttons are handy for choosing
all items, or to clear all choices.
8
Daypart Builder in action
Each input parameter includes a list-box at the
bottom. They provide variations for how you can
structure your schedule. This slide and the next
show two examples.
Vehicles 1 to 3 were created by using the default
setting of Individual stations. Vehicle 4 was
created with the same input parameters, but with
the Combine stations setting.
9
Daypart Builder in action (contd)
Vehicle 1 was created by using the default
setting of Single daypart. Vehicles 2 to 5 were
created using the Quarter hour rows setting, and
vehicles 6 and 7 with the Half hour rows setting.

By using a combination of these features, you can
quickly build up to a large schedule from
scratch. To best take advantage of the Builders
functions, plan ahead by thinking of how the
schedule would look, and then apply the tools to
achieve that.
