1. Opening of the COST 277Action

• Thanks for your support during these last two
  years (first unofficial meeting was held in
  Budapest, EUROSPEECH 1999).

What want we study?

• The potential of non-linear speech processing
  techniques like a predictive model (neural nets,
  Volterra filters, etc.) instead of LPC (or
  combined with LPC)
• Modulation, fractal methods, etc (Maragos)

What will we consider non-linear?

• I propose to use a wide definition in order to
  achieve that a lot of people can contribute to
  COST-277

  a researcher with long experience on the topic of
  COST-277 (indeed we have several people in such
  situation).

  the patience/time for bureaucracy I propose
  myself

activities

• We should try to establish Special Sessions
  about NL inside the big conferences.
• I think that you can try to achieve more
  national funds in your future research
  projects. (COST-277 is an added value to your
  national projects).
• Ex. We are trying to set up a thematic network
  in Catalonia.
