Findings Student Survey
  • 62 (n 57) students had personally encountered
    problems with teaching and learning situations
    which were specifically related to their needs as
    a disabled learner.
  • 50 (n 28) said this was due to failure to supply
    lecture notes/ other materials in advance.
  • A few dyslexic respondents found that some staff
    were 'suspicious that the condition did not
    exist or is not as limiting as put forward.

  • Establishing staff training needs
  • Delivering dedicated training and staff
    development
  • Developing management processes to support staff
    in developing an inclusive approach to teaching
  • Creating an inclusive teaching website resource

Findings Staff Survey
  • More than 66 of (n 87) respondents review their
    curriculum regularly for inclusion, ask students
    for feedback and know how to respond to
    inappropriate language and behaviour
  • Awareness of our university and key external
    resources was very low
  • 87 would like an online resource

  • Agreement secured to amend Expectations of an
    Anglia Ruskin Academic to include specific
    mention of inclusive learning and teaching (used

  • Appraisal scheme to be redeveloped during
    2008-9 - inclusion and retention

  • Anglia Ruskin student retention strategy and
    supporting workshops to include issues of student
    diversity and inclusion
