3Why School Self-Assessment?
- To identify areas for improvement
- To improve the teaching-learning process
- To improve the organizational processes of the
school - To involve all concerned in the process
- To enhance human relations while working on a
common goal - To constantly strive for excellence
4Why use the EFQM Excellence Model?
- It is a comprehensive, systematic and regular
review by an organization of its activities and
results, referenced against a model of excellence - It provides a well articulated framework for
identifying areas for improvement and setting up
an improvement plan with specific short and
long-range targets
5Why use the EFQM Excellence Model?
- The EFQM Excellence Model is not based on a
top-down approach - It is based on the concept that everyone is
working together to identify strengths and
weaknesses and to implement the necessary
improvement plans - Everyone is co-responsible for the well-being of
the organization

13Challenges of using the EFQM Excellence Model
- The EFQM Model had to be adapted to suit school
- needs without changing its basic structure
- The EFQM questionnaire had to be translated into
- Greek and the language adapted for use
- by schools, e.g. customer, management
- The questionnaire had to be adapted to reflect
the - particular needs and structure of the College
14Advantages of using the EFQMExcellence Model
- The faculty is involved in reflecting on and
resolving problems that concern them - The decision and responsibility taken on by the
faculties of each school to implement change
brings a new dynamic process to the school - The EFQM Excellence Model is the means for
initiating a school-wide self-assessment process
in our school
15- Success will truly be realized when this
process becomes internalized as - a natural way of doing things
