  • Walton brings the body to the dock, rubs the
stranger with brandy, and makes the stranger
    drink brandy to warm him.
  • The stranger could not speak and he could not
    move for several days.
  • Walton waits a long time to hear what happened to
    the stranger.

4
Settings with Waltons Narration
  • The first setting takes place in the streets of
    London.
  • The second setting happens in St. Petersburg.
  • The third setting takes place in the Arctic Sea
where Walton finds the strangers body.
  • The fourth setting takes place on an iceberg.

Each narrator gives his side of the story in
first person as told by the stranger to Walton.
Frame Story
Entire tale reported by Walton in his letters to
his sister, Margaret.
6
Suspense
  • In the letters, the stranger has no name.
  • Walton describes the stranger by what he wears,
how he acts, and what he says.

7
Mood
  • In Frankenstein, Mary Shelly provided a quiet
    mood.
  • It was very tense and unbelievable.
  • The tone remains serious and dramatic throughout
the frames. Laughter belongs nowhere in Mary
    Shelleys tale.
