Andre Trocme

• Christian Pastor of Le Chambon.
• He and his wife organized the rescue.
• Born in 1901, came from long lines Huguenots
  Germans.
• He had enthusiasm, and was trusted shortly after
  his arrival.
• Spread the news of the Killing of the Jews
  through his sermons.

and for shelter. I am there shepherd. A shepherd
does not forsake his flock. I dont know what a
Jew is I only know human beings. Andre Trocme

Save the Children!

• Many children and young adults were saved by the
  people of Le Chambon. Some of the children stayed
  in refugee houses that were run by people of the
  town. Others stayed with French families.

Towns people

• The people of the town were very tolerant because
  of the love and respect that they had for Pastor
  Andre Trocme. The villagers believed in him and
  what he was doing.

The Nazis are Coming

• Andre Trocmes cousin Daniel also helped hide the
  children. Unfortunately he was caught and sent to
  an internment camp along with the refugees he was
  hiding. Andre was questioned about his
  involvement but he wouldnt sign anything and was
  released. He went into hiding.
