Common Nouns

• A word that names ANY person, place, or thing.
• Rule We do not capitalize common nouns - unless
  they are at the beginning of the sentence.

• Proper nouns are words that name a PARTICULAR
  person, place, thing, event, or idea.
• Rule We always capitalize proper nouns.
