• LBS history starts at 1960-10-26, when Lithuanian
  section was established as a part of Biochemical
  Society of Soviet Union (founded in 1958)
• The main objectives were to support biochemical
  research and biochemistry teaching
• in 1962 study program in Biochemistry was
  introduced in Vilnius university,
• in 1967 Institute of Biochemistry was opened.
• Since 1989-10-19 LBS was reorganised to
  independent society
• 1991-08-04 in 31st meeting of FEBS Council LBS
  was accepted to FEBS

LBS Council was elected 12 times 1960, 1966,
1970, 1973, 1977, 1979, 1983, 1988, 1992,
1994, 2000, 2004.
