• To keep us from sin - vs 10
• To help us find true wealth - vs 14
• To help us see truth - vs 18
• To remind us we a pilgrims - vs 19
• To make us understand God - vs 27

• Joshua reads the Law - 830-35
• It's a radical move
• Israel in the middle of a war
• Their enemies have them surrounded and are
  joining forces
• The people are unprotected in a valley (only 30
  miles wide)
• Why read the Law now?

• Moses' command to read the Word
• Pillars of Truth
• Whitewashed so the words would standout
• All of the law is on them
• Altars for Sacrifice
• Peace offerings - sacrifices of thanksgiving
• Burnt offerings - totally consumed to
  show total devotion to God
• Uncut stones - simple, focus upon the worship
  (Note Jesus is an uncut stone Dan 234)

• Joshua leads the people to show his own need for
  the Book
• Standing symbolizes reference for the Word
• Families listened together (including "little
  ones")
• Strangers are included because the Word is for
  all who will listen
• Amen - means "so be it" or "I agree"

• No excuses! "I'm at war" is not a valid reason.
