Who are we?
Puerto Rico TechnoEonomic Corridor (PRTEC) is a
non-profit organization committed to a
collaborative environment between private
companies, government entities and academia.
Its main purpose is to integrate industry,
academia and government in efforts to promote an
innovation ecosystem to foster economic
development in the western region .

Partnering Initiative
  • Redevelopment of the existing Puerto Rico
    Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) owned
    Guanajibo Industrial Park into a modern Research
    Park, closely tied to the University of Puerto
    Rico Engineering Campus in Mayagüez, to become an
    integral part in the economic development of
    western region of Puerto Rico.
  • The Guanajibo Research Park will be focused and
    reoriented as a internationally competitive State
    of the Art Technology Hub capable of attracting
    and serving global technology leading industries.

UPRM Commercialization Alliance
  • UPRM Innovation Hub

  • MOU signed in December 2006 between UPRM, PRTEC,
    SBTDC, Primex to collaborate in the
    commercialization efforts of researchers. A
    Business Opportunity Profile (BOP) form was
    created to guide researchers in their efforts.
  • 70 researchers participated in different
    activities. 10 of those are actively
    participating of the BOP process.
